Wendy Hall

Wendy Hall’s passion for painting runs in her family. Her mother and both grandmothers were artists. She studied at Mount Holyoke College and St. Andrews University in Scotland. During the course of her stay in the U.K. she visited the major art museums on the continent as well as the U.K. to further her interest in art history.

Settling in California in 1978 was a turning point in Wendy’s art career. She was always attuned to nature and the outdoors. Through her art she has made an almost mystical connection to the landscapes, flowers and light in the San Diego area. An Encinitas resident, she has refined her skills with such teachers as Diane Adams, Alison Christler and Rikki Reinholz, among others.

Her plein air classes with Diane gave her an opportunity to immerse herself and capture glimpses of the unique plants and trees of this area. She has had several solo exhibitions, notably at the Rancho Bernardo Inn and Resort, El Camino Country Club and several libraries as well as the Front Porch Gallery in Carlsbad. Her work is also represented in several private collections.

One such collector, Karen Gabrielson acquired the painting of Del Mar Dog Beach and later wrote the artist that “she gazes at this painting daily, remembering fondly years ago when she lived at the beach in Del Mar”.
