Jean King

I have had an abiding interest in art all my life. I consider Diebenkorn, Schiele, and Modigliani to be my chief artistic influences, though I’m also attracted to the creations of Rothko, Calder, Bacon and Klein. I work primarily in acrylic on canvas; my paintings have been exhibited at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), the UCSD Medical Center, the San Diego Art Institute, the La Jolla Art Association, The La Jolla Athenaeum and the San Diego County Fair. My illustrations have been published in Cat Fancy magazine. I became a dedicated painter in 2001, and shortly thereafter, I completed a certificate program in "Art and the Creative Process," through the University of California, San Diego. Beginning in 2004, I worked under the mentorship of Reed Cardwell, who encouraged my appreciation of color and love of the human figure.
